How will I study:
The programme is delivered via blended learning, being a mixture of online and in-person teaching and assessment.
The theory and knowledge modules are delivered via our bespoke, university standard online learning platform. This user-friendly 'digital-first' learning environment will engage and challenge you with a variety of quality learning materials and resources including directed reading, journal articles, videos, quizzes, forums and discussion groups.
Supporting your self-directed learning are regular online tutor-led discussions, lectures and webinars in combination with guest lectures and events from sector experts. Our experienced academic and pastoral tutor is also on-hand to guide and support your learning and help with exam revision, assignment planning and academic development.
You will be required to attend three face-to-face clinical sessions over the duration of the course. Clinical sessions comprise 2-3 consecutive clinic days at one of our designated training facilities (Philip Kingsley Trichology Clinic, London, or Bradford University Digital Health Enterprise Zone, Bradford). Learners will be required to attend both facilities throughout the duration of their studies and will not be able to choose one location over the other, as different skills will be taught at each facility. The exact dates of clinic sessions are confirmed at the beginning of the programme and sessions may fall on both weekdays and weekends.
How will I be assessed?
Each unit within the programme is assessed individually, using a variety of assessment methods including written assignments, multiple-choice/short answer exams, written scenarios and worksheets. Case studies, observations of practice and reflective journals must be completed throughout the course, with a final objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) to assess practical performance and skill in a clinical setting at the end of the course.
Minimum IT Requirements:
You will need a modern computer or laptop, with fast and reliable internet access running up-to-date software and applications for participating in online lectures and webinars and accessing learning content and materials.
Progression and Career Opportunities:
The knowledge, understanding and skills you will acquire upon successful completion of this programme can be applied in a number of professional settings including trichological practice for the assessment and management of hair and scalp disorders and hair loss. Successful learners will be invited to apply to the higher-level programmes offered by CSTP including, but not limited to, The Diploma in Clinical Trichology and Hair Science (Level 6*).
